EDITOR’S NOTE
The work in this issue seems to match the mood of the season and of the country. In these five stories, our authors present us with characters undone by circumstance and confusion — at sea in a world unfamiliar and potentially dangerous. They explore what loss, isolation, and anomie can do to an individual.
The poets in this issue surprise us with the way they observe their immediate natural environments and transform personal histories; they demonstrate how authentic human experience can go through a process and become art. In their poems, imperfect things are the catalysts for redirected lives.
We are honored to be considered a safe space for writers to send their work about how catastrophic loss can hobble a person, yet how the desire to live prevails.
