I hope at the end there’s little left of me
that I disappear gently
buried in pine needles
while the mushrooms whisper
all my secrets to the trees.
Stumbling on our graves,
the archaeologists will wonder
the purpose of our filmy, plastic shrouds.



 

ALLISON BURRIS

Allison Burris grew up in the Pacific Northwest and currently lives in Oakland, California. She received her MLIS from San Jose State University and her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in journals including Instant Noodles, Heartline Spec, Muleskinner, After Happy Hour Review, and The Marbled Sigh.
