The Leading Edge of Nothing 

Dementia is a frozen lake 
in your brain 
that cracks loudly when 
 
it detaches from the shore. 
As temperatures rise 
and fall the lake gets bigger 
 
then smaller, 
smaller then bigger, 
but its impact is constant.
