LOCAL WRITERS CONFERENCE
The fifth annual Ridgefield Writers Conference will be held Sept. 22-23 at the Ridgefield Library in Ridgefield, CT. The immersive workshops of this unique conference are patterned after those of the MFA in creative writing and include memoir, essay, nonfiction, creative nonfiction and fiction (short story, novel, young adult and middle grade).
Faculty includes acclaimed memoirist Peter Selgin, award-winning YA novelist Hollis Seamon, novelist and award-winning short story writer Chris Belden, bestselling author Jamie Cat Callan, award-wining essayist James M. Chesbro, and award-winning writer and editor Adele Annesi. The keynote address will be delivered by Carlos Eire, author of the National Book Award winning Waiting for Snow in Havana. The conference also features panel discussions with top agents, editors and publishers, and an opportunity to query the agents.
The Ridgefield Writers Conference is geared to dedicated emerging and established writers. Applicants must provide a one-page sample (double-spaced) of their best work in the chosen genre. Acceptance is based on the order in which the application is received, the quality of the writing sample, and the fit of the submission with the workshop level and content. The cost is $175 for early bird registration (deadline July 1) and $195 for regular registration (deadline Sept. 15). An education discount rate of $150 may be available for current students and faculty.
